Simply put: We have Digital jobs, we need digital skills!
The case for the accelerated acquisition of digital skills in South Africa is a critical national imperative. Young ICT graduates are not ready for the world of work, with less than 70% finding employment – but a digital skills gap of 66,000 jobs exists, of which 60% are entry level roles. The result is that R10bn is spent offshore every year on jobs that could be created in the South African economy.Addressing the digital skills gap between existing jobs and ICT graduates work readiness in South Africa, The Collective X ecosystem was created by industry leaders to accelerate digital skills and unlock potential.
The goal was to create a unified brand with a refreshed blueprint for the Collextive and Digital Work Accelerator (DWA). Tasked with bringing this new brand to life, Mike Joubert ( The Billy Bo group) brought his bomb squad Sasha Sanders (Conscious company), Conn Bertish (All of us) and Andrew Franks (TAG) together to conceptualised The Collective X,
Taking inspiration from the various meanings behind the use of the ‘X’. From signifying a solution to a problem, to being the mathematical symbol for multiplication, X represents heart and is also how people vote. The ‘Collective’ part of the name speaks to a coming together, an ecosystem enabler, and a whole greater than the sum of its parts.
The result was an impactful, unified brand, which was then rolled out across multiple touchpoints to showcase the power of many becoming a groundswell of change.
